Co-Founding United Artists and Talkies (1920-1939)
Alongside Mary Pickford, Charlie Chaplin, and D.W. Griffith, Fairbanks co-founded United Artists in 1919, giving artists control over their films. He transitioned into talkies, though with less acclaim than his silent features.
Personal Life and Legacy (1939)
Married to fellow movie star Mary Pickford, Fairbanks was part of Hollywood’s first power couple. He passed away on December 12, 1939, leaving a legacy as one of Hollywood’s first superstars and a pioneer in the film industry.
